Lainie Anderson is a writer with a 35-year career in journalism and public relations. She spent 17 years as a columnist with Adelaide's Sunday Mail, and has also worked for Melbourne's Herald Sun, London's The Times, and the South Australian Tourism Commission. In 2019, she published her debut novel, Long Flight Home, after being awarded a Churchill Fellowship.

In 2024, Lainie completed a PhD with the University of South Australia, focusing on the life of Kate Cocks, who inspired her books The Death of Dora Black and Murder on North Terrace. Lainie is involved with the History Council of South Australia and the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, and is an ambassador for the Hutt Street Centre, helping homeless individuals. She is also a History Guardian for the History Trust of South Australia and was named the 2023 Emerging Historian of the Year by the History Council of South Australia. Lainie lives in the Adelaide Hills with her husband, Max.

Murder on North Terrace is the second novel in the Petticoat Police Mystery series, following The Death of Dora Black. The first book was longlisted for the 2025 Indie Book Awards for Debut Fiction and the 2025 Margaret and Colin Roderick Literary Award.
