About
Dear Village began with a simple belief.
That the right book, held at the right moment, can change everything.
We opened our doors on Dempster Street in Esperance, Western Australia, because we believed this town deserved a place to slow down. A place built for wandering. For discovering something you didn't know you needed. For leaving with a little more than you came in with.
We are an independent bookshop and lifestyle store. We carry books we love, objects made to be treasured, and gifts chosen with real care. Everything here has been picked by hand, with someone specific in mind. A reader who gets lost in a series. A friend who lights a candle every evening. A child discovering their first favourite story.
This is not a big shop. That is entirely the point.
We are based in Esperance.
A town at the edge of the Southern Ocean, where the light does something extraordinary and the pace of life still makes room for reading. Dear Village grew from this place and belongs to it. Our community is woven into everything we do, from the books we champion to the events we host to the way we wrap a gift.
If you have ever walked past a bookshop window and felt something pull you in, you already understand what we are trying to create here.
