Jane Eyre is a beautifully designed clothbound edition, part of Penguin's hardback Clothbound Classics series. It was designed by the award-winning Coralie Bickford-Smith and features high-quality colourful, tactile cloth with foil stamped into the design.

Charlotte Bronte's first published novel, Jane Eyre, was immediately recognised as a work of genius when it was first published in 1847. The story follows the life of Jane Eyre, who is orphaned and sent to live with her cruel Aunt Reed at Gateshead. Despite facing hardships at the Lowood charity school, Jane Eyre remains unbroken in spirit and integrity.

After taking on the role of governess at Thornfield Hall, Jane meets and falls in love with Mr Rochester. However, their love faces obstacles when Jane discovers an impediment to their lawful marriage. The novel goes beyond melodrama to portray a woman's passionate search for a wider and richer life than the one traditionally allowed to women in Victorian society.
