In Squash, the Cat by Sasha Mayer, a sleepy, early-breakfast cat who happens to look a bit like the vegetable meets his match in Maggie, a late-riser with big energy and even bigger playdate plans. It’s a tender, funny picture book about friendship, feelings, and finding your way back when things go wrong.
Squash and Maggie fit together perfectly—until a brand-new toy arrives. Squash mistakes it for a threatening beast and makes one truly enormous error. Suddenly he can’t face Maggie, and Maggie can’t stop wishing for what she’s lost, as both grapple with sadness, guilt, and missing each other.
Perfect for preschool and early primary readers who love cat stories, gentle humour, and cosy read-alouds, this heartwarming tale speaks to anyone learning about apologising and trust.
Add Squash, the Cat to your basket and meet a duo you’ll want to revisit.
