Michael Connelly’s Hollow returns to Harry Bosch as an old wound is reopened. Decades after the closure of MacLaren Children’s Center, where Bosch lived as a ward of the state after his mother’s murder, a huge class action settlement offers him a payout. Bosch refuses the money, but not the reckoning it represents. The news drags him back to a death that was never properly investigated: a boy named Chops, found in a concealed space under a staircase the staff used for punishment, known to the kids as “the hollow”. With help from his half-brother, defence attorney Mickey Haller, Bosch starts digging into long-buried files and discovers a trail that leads beyond institutional abuse to a predator who escaped accountability and went on to commit brutal crimes. It’s a case that forces Bosch to confront the origins of his own drive for justice, and the past he has never quite left behind. Useful additional information Author: Michael Connelly
